𝗣𝗿𝗼𝗱𝘂𝗰𝘁 𝗗𝗲𝘁𝗮𝗶𝗹𝘀

New replacement LCD screen for the Raymarine and Raytheon RayPilot 650 RP650 marine autopilot control head.

This internal LCD replaces a faded, sun-damaged, flickering or unreadable display while retaining the original control-head housing, circuit board, keypad, rotary control, SeaTalk electronics and autopilot configuration.

This listing is for the LCD screen and conductive contact strips only. The complete RayPilot 650 control head shown in the application photos is not included.

𝗖𝗼𝗺𝗽𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗯𝗶𝗹𝗶𝘁𝘆

Designed for:

• Raymarine RayPilot 650 control head
• Raytheon RayPilot 650 control head
• RayPilot RP650 control unit
• Physically matching units carrying M81100 identification

Brand markings may vary between Raytheon and Raymarine depending on the production period, but the control-head model and physical LCD configuration must match.

𝗥𝗲𝗳𝗲𝗿𝗲𝗻𝗰𝗲 𝗣𝗮𝗿𝘁 𝗡𝘂𝗺𝗯𝗲𝗿

• M81100

Important: M81100 identifies the complete RayPilot 650 control head. It is not necessarily a manufacturer number printed on the individual replacement LCD.

𝗡𝗼𝘁 𝗖𝗼𝗺𝗽𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗯𝗹𝗲 𝗪𝗶𝘁𝗵

• RayPilot course computers without the M81100 control head
• Raymarine ST6000 or ST6000+ control heads
• Raymarine ST6001 or ST6001+ control heads
• Raymarine ST6002 control heads
• Autohelm ST7000 control heads
• Raymarine p70 or p70R control heads
• Raymarine Evolution autopilot displays
• Units with a different LCD shape or contact layout

Similarity in appearance does not guarantee compatibility. Compare the original display before ordering.

𝗙𝗶𝘁𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁 𝗩𝗲𝗿𝗶𝗳𝗶𝗰𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻

Before ordering, inspect the original control head and confirm:

• The unit is labeled RayPilot 650 or RP650
• The complete control-head number is M81100
• The LCD segment arrangement matches the listing photographs
• The glass dimensions and shape match
• The electrical contact positions match
• The original display uses two conductive contact strips
• The circuit board and housing are otherwise serviceable

Matching M81100 and the original internal LCD is the most reliable method of confirming compatibility.

𝗗𝗶𝘀𝗽𝗹𝗮𝘆𝗲𝗱 𝗜𝗻𝗳𝗼𝗿𝗺𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻

Depending on the autopilot system configuration, the RayPilot 650 display can show:

• Current and commanded heading
• Standby and Auto operating modes
• Navigation or Track mode information
• Rudder-angle indication
• Cross-track error information
• Course changes
• Waypoint and turn information
• Power-steering status
• System alarms and calibration information

The LCD only displays information generated by the original control-head electronics and connected autopilot system.

𝗣𝗿𝗼𝗯𝗹𝗲𝗺𝘀 𝗧𝗵𝗶𝘀 𝗦𝗰𝗿𝗲𝗲𝗻 𝗠𝗮𝘆 𝗖𝗼𝗿𝗿𝗲𝗰𝘁

• Sunburned or darkened LCD
• Faded or low-contrast characters
• Missing display segments caused by failed LCD glass
• Flickering display caused by an LCD contact fault
• Blotches or discoloration inside the screen
• Cracked or physically damaged LCD
• Display that becomes unreadable in warm conditions
• Blank display when the LCD itself has failed

𝗧𝗵𝗶𝘀 𝗦𝗰𝗿𝗲𝗲𝗻 𝗪𝗶𝗹𝗹 𝗡𝗼𝘁 𝗖𝗼𝗿𝗿𝗲𝗰𝘁

• Control head that receives no electrical power
• Failed circuit board or processor
• Corrosion or water damage
• Failed backlight or illumination circuit
• Inoperative keypad buttons or rotary control
• SeaTalk communication problems
• NMEA communication problems
• Failed course computer
• Defective fluxgate compass or heading sensor
• Failed rudder-reference sensor
• Hydraulic pump, mechanical drive or steering faults
• Incorrect autopilot calibration

If the existing display produces clear characters but the autopilot does not steer correctly, the LCD is unlikely to be the cause.

𝗜𝗻𝘀𝘁𝗮𝗹𝗹𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻

Careful DIY installation is possible for individuals experienced with marine electronics, but professional installation is recommended.

The seller states that soldering is not normally required. Installation involves opening the M81100 control head, removing the original LCD and conductive strips, cleaning the contact surfaces and correctly positioning the replacement components.

During installation:

• Disconnect vessel power
• Protect the circuit board from static electricity and moisture
• Photograph the original assembly before removing components
• Keep fingerprints away from the LCD contacts
• Clean contacts only with an electronics-safe product
• Position both conductive strips evenly
• Tighten the housing uniformly without overtightening
• Inspect the housing seal before reassembly
• Test every segment before reinstalling the control head

Uneven contact-strip pressure can cause missing or intermittent segments even when the replacement LCD is functioning correctly.

𝗣𝗿𝗼𝗴𝗿𝗮𝗺𝗺𝗶𝗻𝗴

Replacing only the LCD does not normally require software programming or autopilot commissioning because the original circuit board and control electronics remain installed.

Existing calibration should remain unchanged. Full commissioning is required when installing or replacing major autopilot-system components, not normally when replacing only the screen.

𝗖𝗼𝗻𝗱𝗶𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻

• Inspect and test before final installation

𝗣𝗮𝗰𝗸𝗮𝗴𝗲 𝗜𝗻𝗰𝗹𝘂𝗱𝗲𝘀
