Update the factory navigation operating software in a compatible 2002–2007 BMW E65 or E66 7 Series with this professionally prepared V32.2 firmware update CD.

This disc is designed for the original trunk-mounted BMW NAVI01, NAVI02 and NAVI03 navigation computers. It can be used with compatible E65/E66 systems both with and without a DVD logo, depending on which navigation-computer generation is installed.

Each disc is prepared and tested before shipment. Printed installation instructions are included.

Compatible Navigation Computers

The navigation computer is normally located in the trunk. Some units have a DVD logo on the front while earlier CD-based NAVI01 units do not. The absence of a DVD logo does not automatically mean the vehicle is incompatible.

Software Version Information

BMW’s V32 software package supports the E65/E66 navigation-computer families with the following final version levels:

• NAVI01 CD navigation: Software version 7.3.2

• NAVI02 DVD navigation: Software version 8.4.4

• NAVI03 DVD navigation: Software version 09.08.02

The displayed version depends on which navigation computer is installed. An E65/E66 system will not display the MK4 version number 4-1/00 because MK4 is a different navigation-computer family.

Firmware Benefits

Important Map Information

This is a navigation firmware update—not a navigation map update.

The disc does not contain:

• New streets or highways

• Updated addresses

• New points of interest

• Current map coverage

• A replacement navigation map CD or DVD

After the firmware installation is complete, the vehicle’s existing compatible map disc must be reinstalled for normal route guidance.

Installation Instructions

1. Make sure the vehicle battery is fully charged. A suitable battery maintainer is recommended.

2. Unlock the vehicle and leave the driver’s door open.

3. Locate the navigation computer in the trunk.

4. Press the eject button and remove the existing navigation map CD or DVD.

5. Switch the ignition to accessory position 1 without starting the engine.

6. Insert the supplied firmware update CD.

7. Wait for the software-update screen to appear. Initial loading may take a minute.

8. Follow the instructions displayed on the vehicle’s control display.

9. Allow approximately 5–10 minutes for programming to finish.

10. Do not operate the vehicle, switch off the ignition or interrupt electrical power during the update.

11. Remove the update CD when instructed.

12. Confirm the restart if prompted.

13. Reinstall the original navigation map CD or DVD.

14. Allow the navigation system to restart and verify normal operation.

Important Installation Warning

Do not disconnect the battery, turn off the ignition, eject the disc prematurely or interrupt the update while programming is in progress. Loss of power during installation can cause the navigation computer to become unresponsive.

The vehicle’s navigation computer and disc drive must already be operational and capable of reading discs. This product cannot repair failed hardware, a damaged optical drive or an unresponsive navigation computer.

Not Compatible With

• BMW MK1, MK2, MK3 or MK4 navigation computers installed in other chassis

• BMW CCC navigation systems

• BMW CIC navigation systems

• NBT or later iDrive systems

• Vehicles without factory navigation

• Aftermarket navigation systems

• Damaged or nonfunctioning navigation computers

• Navigation drives that cannot read a CD-R
