BMW changed the size and shape of several mirror assemblies during mid-generation updates.

• E90/E91 Sedan and Wagon: generally for pre-LCI vehicles produced before approximately September 2008  
• E92/E93 Coupe and Convertible: generally for early vehicles produced before approximately March 2009  
• E82/E88 1 Series: verify the original glass shape and production date  
• E46 M3: verify the clip pattern and heating terminals before ordering

The vehicle’s production date is located on the VIN label in the driver-side door opening.

𝗜𝗺𝗽𝗼𝗿𝘁𝗮𝗻𝘁 𝗙𝗶𝘁𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁 𝗡𝗼𝘁𝗶𝗰𝗲

These mirrors are not compatible with factory electrochromatic auto-dimming mirror systems.

Do not order if the original mirror has:

• Auto-dimming or electrochromatic glass  
• Additional electrical connectors beyond the two heating terminals  
• A different backing-plate or retaining-ring design  
• A different overall glass shape or size  
• A larger LCI-style mirror housing  
• Blind-spot warning indicators or integrated signal lights

Before purchasing, remove or inspect the original glass and compare:

• Mirror shape and dimensions  
• Center mounting ring  
• Backing-plate clips  
• Two-pin heating terminals  
• Vehicle production date  
• Original equipment and option codes

𝗔𝘂𝘁𝗼-𝗗𝗶𝗺𝗺𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗪𝗮𝗿𝗻𝗶𝗻𝗴

These mirrors are blue-tinted but are not electronically auto-dimming. Blue tint provides passive glare reduction and should not be confused with BMW’s electrochromatic auto-dimming feature.

Installing these mirrors on an auto-dimming vehicle will eliminate the original auto-dimming function and may result in incompatible wiring or mounting.

𝗜𝗻𝘀𝘁𝗮𝗹𝗹𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻

• Carefully tilt the original mirror inward  
• Release the original backing plate from the adjustment motor  
• Disconnect the two heating terminals  
• Connect the heating wires to the replacement mirror  
• Align the center mounting ring and retaining clips  
• Press evenly until the backing plate locks into position  
• Test power adjustment and heating operation

Use light, even pressure during installation. Excessive force can crack the glass or damage the mirror-adjustment motor.
