GM navigation SD cards can become permanently associated with the first vehicle’s VIN during initialization. Once initialized, the card cannot normally be transferred to another vehicle. Confirm that the card is new and has never been initialized before installation.
Basic installation:

Turn the vehicle completely off and allow the infotainment system to power down.

Remove the existing navigation card.

Insert the new card firmly into the factory SD-card slot.

Turn the ignition and infotainment system on.
-
Open the Navigation application and follow the on-screen prompts.
The navigation system operates directly from the SD card; the data is not permanently downloaded to the radio. Keep the card installed during use.
