Fitment and compatibility

2006–2009 Mazda MX-5 Miata and 2004–2009 Mazda RX-8 equipped with the matching four-button advanced smart-card key.
Buttons: lock, unlock, trunk release and red panic. This is the thin rectangular card style, not a folding key or later rounded proximity remote.
Compare the original card dimensions, all four buttons, blade profile, emergency-key retaining mechanism and internal circuit-board mounting points before purchase.
Not for three-button CX-7/CX-9 cards or vehicles using a different remote housing.

Included and installation

One black ABS smart-card shell with button pad and uncut emergency blade. No circuit board, immobilizer chip or battery is included.
Transfer the original compatible electronics and battery. Retaining the original electronics normally avoids reprogramming.
Have the replacement blade cut by a qualified locksmith. The empty case cannot start or unlock the vehicle by itself.
