1.) First locate the original solenoid which can be found under the intake pipe.
2) Remove the intake pipe at both ends and remove to gain access to the solenoid.
3) You should now be able to see the original solenoid and the 3 bolts holding it in place.
4) We would recommend moving the radiator fluid tank to further gain access to the solenoid. It can be easily moved by undoing the one 8mm screw.
5) Next, remove the 3 bolts on the original solenoid using an Allen key (access is
restricted at this point and it is recommended to check access to all bolts before
proceeding)6) Once the solenoid is removed carefully place it to one side or disconnect from the loom and remove from the vehicle. You can now offer up the blow-off adapter
* Do not insert bolts at this time.
7) When you have the blow-off adapter lined up correctly, fit the original solenoid back over with the wiring connection pointing down (if you have removed it).
Insert the new longer bolts supplied and tighten up until the original solenoid is firmly tight against the blow-off adapter. Re-attach the fluid tank and all hoses and rev away!
* Please note that the “O” ring that affects the seal should be held in place with a light smear of grease during assembly.
Failure to observe this instruction may result in operational failure or damage. If you are at all in doubt of your competency to install this product please enlist the help of a qualified technician.

HOW A BLOW OFF VALVE WILL IMPROVE YOUR MINI COOPS S PERFORMANCE
Your BMW mini copper S turbo utilizes a bypass facility which works by recirculating air around the turbo charger housing.
The bypass facility allows charged air to flow from the boost side to the intake side of the turbo charger.
The BMW MINI ECU opens and closes a solenoid on the turbo charger which controls when the bypass facility is allowed to work.
When under acceleration the turbo creates air pressure as the fan situated within the turbo spins.
Each time a gear change is made the the throttle valve is momentarily closed and the but the turbo is still spinning constantly generating boost pressure.
The boost pressure generated is redundant and has no place to go which results in the turbo slowing down and being subjected to extreamly large volumes of pressure and stress.
As soon as the throttle valve is opened again there is often a lag as it takes a few moments for the turbo to spin back up the required pressure generating sufficient amounts of boost.
