Custom BMW And MINI Navigation Startup Logo Software Update

Personalize your factory BMW or MINI navigation system with a custom startup image made from your own supplied photograph, vehicle image, business logo or original artwork.

After your order is placed, send us your selected image by email. We will professionally prepare the image in the correct resolution and aspect ratio, integrate it into customized V32 firmware and test the finished software for proper display and operation.

You will receive a custom CD-R that installs through the factory MK2, MK3 (CD-ROM) or MK4 DVD navigation computer located in the trunk or rear cargo area. The update normally takes approximately 10 minutes and displays step-by-step instructions and progress information on the vehicle’s factory navigation monitor.

How The Customization Process Works

Complete your purchase.
Email us the photograph, logo or artwork you want displayed.
We professionally enhance, crop and format your image.
Your image is integrated into customized V29.1 or V32 MK4 firmware depending on GPS device.
The completed software is tested for proper startup display and function.
Your custom update CD-R is prepared and sent to you.
Insert the disc into the vehicle’s trunk-mounted MK4 navigation computer.
Follow the instructions and progress information on the navigation screen.
Remove the update disc when prompted and allow the system to restart.
Your personalized image will appear during navigation-system startup.

Image Requirements

For the best result, please provide the highest-quality original image available. You can provide a custom designed image, photoshop rendering or even a picture of your BMW. We will make the software with any image you provide. Landscape-oriented images generally work best because the factory navigation monitor uses a wide display.

Images can include:

A photograph of your vehicle
Personal photography
Business or club artwork
Original logos
Custom graphics
Other customer-owned artwork

Low-resolution images can often be enhanced, but the final result depends on the quality and composition of the source material. Some cropping may be required to fit the factory display.

The customer must own or have permission to use all supplied images, logos and artwork.

V32 Firmware Features

The custom disc also updates a compatible MK4 navigation computer to the final V32 firmware release, providing features and improvements that may include:

Important Map Information

This product updates the operating firmware inside the MK4 navigation computer. It does not install newer streets, points of interest or map-database information.

A compatible navigation map DVD is still required for normal route-guidance operation. The 3D feature refers to the perspective display mode supported by V32 firmware, not the age or geographic coverage of the map data.

Compatibility is determined by the installed navigation computer—not simply the vehicle’s year, model or dashboard monitor.

Some earlier vehicles were originally equipped with MK2 or MK3 navigation computers but may have been upgraded to an MK4. These vehicles are compatible only if an MK4 DVD navigation computer is currently installed.

Required Navigation System

Your vehicle must have:

A factory-style BMW or MINI navigation monitor
An MK4 DVD navigation computer
A visible “DVD” logo on the navigation computer
A functioning navigation computer and display
Access to the navigation computer in the trunk or cargo area

Check the navigation computer itself before ordering. The DVD logo on its front panel is the easiest way to identify an MK4 unit.

Not Compatible With

MK1 navigation computers
MK2 navigation computers
MK3 CD-based navigation computers
BMW iDrive CCC systems
BMW iDrive CIC systems
NBT or later iDrive systems
Standard BMW or MINI radios without factory navigation
Aftermarket navigation units
Damaged or nonfunctioning navigation computers
Systems that cannot currently read a CD-R

This CD cannot convert an MK1, MK2 or MK3 computer into an MK4 system.

Installation Overview

Unlock the vehicle and open the driver’s door.
Locate the MK4 DVD navigation computer in the trunk or cargo area.
Eject and safely store the navigation map DVD.
Turn the ignition to position 1 without starting the engine.
Insert the custom firmware CD-R into the MK4 computer.
Wait for the software-update screen to appear.
Follow the instructions displayed on the navigation monitor.
Do not switch off the ignition or interrupt vehicle power during programming.
Wait approximately 10 minutes for the update to finish.
Remove the CD-R when instructed.
Reinsert the navigation map DVD.
Confirm the restart on the factory monitor.

Maintain stable vehicle voltage throughout the update. A suitable battery maintainer is recommended if the battery’s condition is uncertain.

Important Installation Warning

Do not turn off the ignition, disconnect the battery, remove the disc prematurely or interrupt power while the navigation computer is being programmed. An interrupted update can prevent the navigation computer from restarting correctly.

The buyer is responsible for confirming system compatibility and following the supplied instructions. Professional installation is recommended if you are unfamiliar with BMW navigation systems.
